Abstract

Proving the efficacy and corresponding mode of action of herbal supplements is a difficult challenge for evidence-based traditional herbal therapy. A major hurdle is the complexity of herbal mixture, many of which combine multiple herbs, particularly when the combination is assumed to be vitally important to the effectiveness of the herbal therapy. Extracts of these herbals are very complicated mixtures of multiple compounds (see abstract about chemical analysis of extracts Juniperus fructus in this book of abstracts). Other important fact is component aspect in herbal mixture. This study may be addressed through the use of contemporary methodology and validated applied scientific models.
Methods and Principal Findings

In this study we got two formulas (formula 1 and 2) on the basis of recognition of traditional herbal therapies used in international medicine for curing and therapy as insulin resistance reducer, pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes treatments, particularly as activator in insulin signal pathway and as modulator in glucose transport system and as suppressor in insulin resistance, for curing hiperlipidemia.
