Highly sensitive analytical voltammetric and HPLC chromatographic methods were elaborated for the detection of some neonicotinoids (imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, acetamiprid and thiacloprid) in different samples. The voltammetric methods are based on the characteristic reduction signals of the neonicotinoids on mercury and bismuth-film electrodes. In the case of chromatographic method, beside the usually used diode-array, the thermal lens spectrometric detector was applied. Selected neonicotinoids were determined in different samples like river water, some commercial formulations and potato, maize and honey samples.
