Residues of veterinary drugs in food producing animals can cause negative effects on human health. As a strategy for minimizing the potential risk to humans associated with ingestion of veterinary drugs residues trough consumed foodstuffs, residue monitoring programs are conducted in many countries, including Serbia.

Identification and confirmation for veterinary drugs residues, in-house developed and validated methods based on liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) have been used. This approach makes the performance of the analysis of veterinary drug residues less time-consuming and more reliable.
